In the fall of 2004 The Paard Hill Farms Young Rider Scholarship Program for serious,
committed young riders was created. In the first two years the Program awarded over $50,000 to 21 recipients. The awards consist of weekly lessons and financial assistance toward shows.
In October 2006 Paard Hill Farms became home to Foundation GROW (Giving Riders Opportunities to Win). (Link to GROW opening website page) Foundation GROW is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization founded by Paard Hill Farms owner, Ellen Lear, and Jadwiga Brown, Development and Marketing Consultant for Corporate Image Management.
The mission of Foundation GROW is to enable competitive young riders in the tri-state area, including those with disabilities, to pursue their dreams and goals in equestrian sports. The Foundation accomplishes this by funding riding and competition scholarships based on need and merit.
By providing opportunities for young people to bond with a horse, Foundation GROW promotes responsibility, self-esteem, integrity, and compassion. These are the values that make winners in life.
The scholarship application process is comprised of two parts: The first is a written application describing the applicant’s desire and experience; the second part is a riding/interview to demonstrate the applicant’s riding skill and knowledge of horse management and care. Applications are accepted in October and April, with scholarships awarded in November and May. For further information please contact the Foundation GROW office at 631-749-9462.
